The
following are just a few of the posts made by Kathie Briggs on her
forum that discuss Raye Dawn and her family and make direct
political threats. There are many, many more. Kathie has recently
cleaned up her site so she can obtain non-profit charitable status.
But she has spent over two years attacking, threatening, making fun
of, slandering, and accusing people on her site that was supposed to
be for her grandchild.
This post is regarding the picketing KP did against a deal for Raye
Dawn.
Many have asked that we have a protest of some sort on a
Saturday. What we have chosen to do is have a "Walk for
Justice" next Saturday, March 11th before the Child Abuse
Fair.
We will meet at Brooke Insurance at 2102 N. Kickapoo in
Shawnee (across from Sonic) at 11:00a.m.
We will then simply walk up and down the street with our
signs asking for justice for Kelsey. You can bring your
strollers for your children and those who choose can walk
around in a small area in the parking lot. The plan is to
also have a firetruck to display Kelsey banners.
Please do not make threatening or inappropriate signs.
This could last about one hour and that will give everyone
time to eat lunch and get to the fair. Our message should
be clear that child abuse is a crime and failure to report
child abuse is a crime. Those who turn their backs on
child abuse and let children be hurt should be punished
along with the perpetrator.

Okay, brilliant is not a word ever used to describe
anything I have ever done before. That might get a chuckle
out of my family.
I want everyone to know that it will not be necessary to
cross streets during this walk if you have children with
you. There is enough parking area for us without putting
the children in danger of cars.
I really hope as many as possible will be there.
We heard
another rumor today that a deal could be made for the
mother. This is not justice for Kelsey if that happens.
It
sends a very bad message for all who witness abuse and do
nothing. Once they know they will be held accountable
maybe they will put their children above the perpetrator.
I urge all of you to call the Attorney General and any
other elected official with your outrage at this
possibility.Our DA has already stated on camera his case
against Mike Porter is strong and he does not need Raye
Dawn. Therefore; he does not need to make a deal
with
someone who did not protect her child for nine months of
documented abuse. We would like to believe Mr. Smothermon
is working for Kelsey, but we have believed in our system
in the past and Kelsey died. The Judges in Lincoln and
Pott. Counties need to know they cannot be soft on child
abuse. It has to become a serious issue. Please once again
write, call, fax and e-mail those who will be making these
decisions on Kelsey's behalf.

I have spent a lot of time getting caught up on
yesterday's posts and I see the members here are at a loss
for words....ha!
For the past two days I have been OKC attending the
Victim's Crime Conference. I met some of the other
families of senseless crimes and those in positions to
support them. I met Marc Klaas, who's daughter Polly was
kidnapped and murdered in California several years ago. He
sat down and spoke with me and another Grandma from Hobart
about our cases in length. We then attended his seminar on
making a difference which was very informative. From there
we went to the Capitol for another program. There were
several speakers including the grandson of A.J. and Patsy
Cantrell. They were murdered in their own home by a
stranger and the week of their trial their daughter was
murdered. We heard from a girl whose father had been
murdered when she was four years old. Her mother remarried
and that man sexually abused her for 10 years. Years later
she met a man that became her good friend and mentor. His
name was David Terry, who was also murdered. We then tied
the names of our loved ones to cards and placed them on
balloons. It was sad to see these balloons go into the air
knowing each one of them represented a sad story.
After this day I come home to find another letter in the
paper from the family of Raye Dawn.
It saddens me to think
these people who spend so much time trying to defend their
lack of actions for Kelsey now have plenty of time for
self pity. Still I do not hear remorse over Kelsey's
death, just excuses.
If rallies do not work in getting the message out, then a
lot of people wasted their time yesterday. I started out
with the idea to make stickers for our family and only
ordered 200. Little did I know that 40,000 stickers later
I would still be filling orders with no end in sight.
Mildred Fowler feels this is not helping abused children
and stickers alone do not. It is the people who take the
time to listen to the problems Kelsey faced that help
child abuse. I also wanted a website only to honor
Kelsey's memory, little did I know it would take off the
way it has. We now have over 950 members and hundreds of
guests that visit each day. I have answered over 4000
emails from well wishers and supporters. Many of those
letters have been from someone with their own stories in
need of help or just someone to understand. We have been
able to guide many people to the right resources. Some we
can only provide a place to vent or to offer support. Many
of these people have come to us through the website
because it is printed on our stickers. We are making a
difference in spite of the opinion of Mildred Fowler.
I have never been one to seek fame and fortune, I was
perfectly content with the hum drum life I once had. If
fame finds me through this tragic story I will use it to
help other abused children. If fortune finds me I will use
that money to bring more awareness to child abuse. If that
awareness means more stickers and more rallies it will be
money well spent.
In my opinion all a person needs is parental instinct and
a little common sense to prevent all the abuse Kelsey
endured. A degree of any kind could not provide you with
more red flags than broken bones, bruises, retinal
hemmoraging, loss of appetite, and a dwindling spirit.
Human compassion could have gone a long way and a lot
cheaper than years of college.
It has become more apparent to me that Kelsey could have
lived with abuse for many years had she not been killed.
The adults in her life would never have noticed. Obviously
the people around her did not care enough. All the letters
in the world will not bring Kelsey back and they will not
change the facts. Many many people let Kelsey down and she
deserves justice. I did everything I knew to do and
failed. I still ask God to tell Kelsey how sorry I am that
I could not save her. I can take all the bashing the other
family wants to dish out. It will not stop me from wanting
to know why they did not help her. Kelsey was just as much
a member of this family and we will continue to fight for
her. Marc Klaas stated yesterday that families that speak
out have nothing to hide, families that speak through
their attorneys do. I thought that was interesting.

All donations to KP are for child abuse prevention
materials and projects. Absolutely none of the money is for
personal use, personal gain, or lawsuits of any kind. Any
lawsuits that have been initiated are personal issues and
are personally funded. It is very unfortunate that lawsuits
and grand jury investigations have become necessary. Our
family has civil rights that have been willfully infringed
upon again and again. Defamation of character, slander and
libel are against the law. These laws have grossly been
broken for three years. We had hoped that the situation
would improve, but unfortunately it has worsened. I
understand that some people feel that Kelsey's mother was
wrongly imprisoned and are fighting for her release. I have
no objection to that; they have every right to lawfully help
her. However, laws have been broken in the process. We
have overlooked it time and time again, but with the
increasing severity with which they try to harm our family,
we have come to the point where we feel that legal action
must be taken to end it. We did not convict Raye Dawn Smith
of any crime; 12 jurors that she and her chosen council
approved in a location that she and her council approved
convicted her. As far as we are concerned, justice has been
served and we are trying to move on with our lives.

They think that my posting all the stuff
they've done, all the lies they've told, and all the evidence of
conspiracy that I'm slandering them. If they didn't want people to
see what they've said and done, they shouldn't have put it out
there.
It's clear
from this and many other posts that it's all about attention for
Kathie and hatred for the Smiths.
In this next post you'll see another lie from Kathie.
Read the emails and see how many times Kathie told Mike Porter that
the Smiths took advantage of him or "snowed" him as Kathie phrased
it.
In his book, Judge Key states that Kathie
told a police officer that Mike Porter was a "victim of
circumstance". After the second autopsy revealed sexual abuse,
which determined him as the supposed perpetrator, why would
Kathie expect Raye to have know it was him, if she did not even
suspect it was him?
I'm confused about this information.
I have not read Craig Key's book, nor do I
plan to in the near future.
If he states I used the words Mike
Porter was a victim of circumstance he is a liar...point blank.
I have never stated that to the police or any other agency for
that matter.
The second autopsy did show signs of sexual abuse, but no DNA
was found. That doesn't say that Raye wasn't using an object and
hurting Kelsey herself. I am not suggesting that is the case,
the fact is we will never know. I knew very little about the
signs of sexual abuse before Kelsey was murdered. I have since
taken a class and done some research. If a mother bathed her
child and knew she was being watched for abuse she should be
looking for any and every sign possible. If that mother felt it
was the paternal family and they were no longer in the picture
and injuries kept happening then she should have looked in
Porter's direction or in the mirror.
As for the unauthorized visit with Raye Dawn. In our court
papers it states we can make up visits if necessary and
agreeable to both parties.
Yes, it is true I wanted to inform Lance of Kelsey's condition
myself. I felt it would be better coming from family and not a
stranger. Not long after it was explained the legal reasons they
needed it DHS was provided with his contact information . In
hindsight I realize I should have just given it to them when we
finally got it. In fact we did not have that information for
several days ourselves. Until you have a family member in a war
zone you have no way of knowing how you would have handled the
situation yourself. We have learned a lot of leasons through
this tragedy. If we could only do a few things differently now.
Hindsight is a valuable tool.

don’t think it right to take advantage of you. You are young, you

In
the next posts KP members attack Raye Dawn's grandmother for
expressing her opinion. They've even posted on their forum calling
this elderly woman a "slut." Many of their most damaging posts only
stay for hours or days and then are deleted and they pretend they
were never there.
I cant find the link so here it is:
"If all those people who are holding rallies, passing
out buttons, stickers, fliers,etc., really want to
help abused children, then open your hearts and homes
for them.
Of course, you may have to reach down in your
pockets a little, invest in foster parenting classes,
submit to an OSBI background check, have your yards
and homes inspected.
If the court requires some family memebers to go
through this process, then all family members involved
should be required to go through the same process.
In little Kelseys case, her maternal grandmother
had to fulfill these requirements. I also had to have
an OSBI background check before I could watch Kelsey
(my own great-granddaughter) for a few hours, and then
I couldn't watch her in my home because it had not
been inspected.
Another thing you may need to do is get a degree
in psychiatry, so you will know the most innermost
thoughts of everyone in your household. That way you
will recognize if they are keeping within themselves
deep-seated jealousy because you are giving that child
so much attention and love that they can no longer
handle it.
If you do not recognize the symptoms, you may
experience a tragedy. And if you do, you could be
charged with enabling and failure to protect.
As for the signs, Seeking Justice For Kelsey,
some believe the more appropriate title could very
well read, Seeking fame, fortune and vengeance. Good

Miss Fowler you need to get your nose out of the air
and get your eyesight checked. "If you do not
recognize the symptoms, you may experience a tragedy.
And if you do, you could be charged with enabling and
failure to protect." You are exactly right if you
cannot recognize that two broken legs, 29 bruises, a
broken collar bone, eye hemorrages, night terrors,
failure to thrive, refusing to eat as evidence OF THE
HORRIBLE CHILD ABUSE THAT KELSEY ENDURED then you
deserve to be charged with enabling and failure to
protect. You deserve to sit right along side the
perpetrators.

As for Mildred Fowler, the so called "Christian". I
for one have dug into my pockets to help prevent child
abuse. I have completed an application for foster care
and I too can pass a background and drug test. Let's
just hope I can recognize two broken legs, multiple
bruises, loss of weight, broken collar bone, eye
hemorrage, just a few of the signs of abuse on Kelsey
better then "Mildred the Christian". Those people are
evil, evil, evil, evil!!!!

This is a post from when
I first started the blog that became a forum. It's when the
hatemail from KP members were coming in at the pace of
approximately 50 per day. After this post, it slowed down to
maybe three or four a day.

WOW!!!!
The reason for this blog is to search for facts in this
case. However, I'm wishing I had never started digging. The
more I dig, the nastier it gets.
I had to pause for a few moments and say a prayer and a
Hail Mary for those with such hatred in their hearts who
would do something like this. Excuse the profanity in this
post, I'm just putting what these sick individuals had to
say. There are many, many more...
I was just sent an email from an anonymous source. This
is very sad!!! Kelsey is gone. There is no disputing that
fact. Raye Dawn is in jail. Another fact. We can dispute who
killed Kelsey, whether or not Raye Dawn got a fair trial,
and what Mike Porter's role was in all of this, but to
purposely flood a grieving family with hateful and malicious
messages is just sick! I pray for all of those involved in
these actions to find healing for their hearts. There is
only one TRUE judge in this world. HE will judge Raye Dawn.
HE will judge Mike Porter. HE will judge Lance. And HE will
judge anyone else who had a part in Kelsey's suffering and
death. But there seems to be a lot of people out there
judging Raye Dawn. It's just wrong!
Let me explain. I found a site I'm assuming the Smith
family started in support of Raye Dawn at
http://freekelseysmom.com.
I've already posted it on this blog. When I discovered it on
Kelsey's Purpose, there were awful things being said about
the site and the family's reasons for creating it. They
picked on the pictures, they picked on the purpose, and they
even posted a mugshot of Raye Dawn. I wish I had printed all
of that, because it's since been removed. However, I've been
informed that this site was not finished in the developing
process, and it had NOT been submitted to search engines as
of last night. The only people who had access to the site
was Smith family members and friends.
The statistics from
the site show that there were no keywords searched, and most
of the traffic came from emails and directly from Kelsey's
Purpose. The first couple of days while the site was still
being developed the site administrator received petition
signatures and notes for the court. After being posted on
Kelsey's Purpose, the administrator was slammed with mean,
spiteful, and hateful messages with names like Charles
Manson, Bullshit, etc. and messages like, "This entire case
was a horrible tragedy, caused by Raye Dawn and her then
husband Mike Porter. May she burn in hell, starting the day
before she's due to be released from prison. In my eyes, 27
years isn't nearly enough... perhaps we should petition the
court to increase it?"
"This site needs to be shut down, she got what she deserved.
There is no way she wasn't abusing or knew about the abuse.
Didn't she see the marks when she gave the baby a bath, give
me a break. And I will tell you one thing if Porter really
did tape Kelsey's eyes shut, he would have been out of
there, and never been near my child again, please what kind
of Mother is Rae Dawn. I hope someone kills her in prison,
but slow and suffer like Kelsey did!"

If poor little Rae Dawn is so innocent, she wouldn't be

There wouldn't be law suits pending. A judge would still be
sitting on the bench and not trying to get his book
published about how he gave that poor little girl back to
her mother! He was voted out for nothing.
My only hope for Rae Dawn is that everyday of her life is
spent thinking over and over again about how she allowed
that little girl to suffer and die, whether by her own hand
or her own will to let the abuse continue on through Mike.
Maybe she can pen-pal with Susan Smith and Darlie Routier.
You can delete this immediately, which I'm sure you will.
It's obviously hard for you people to face the truth. Let me
just say that I will save this message and start my own
"petition" for appeal denial and I guarentee my list is
longer then yours!!!"

Here is the proof that the traffic came from Kelsey's
Purpose: (The rows are off because it wouldn't allow me to

Notice these search engine columns are blank. That's
because the site had not been submitted to search engines
until last night. The only thing that was searched was the
specific address.
Okay people, WAKE UP!!!!! These people are grieving the
loss of Kelsey and now the loss of Raye Dawn. Whether you
think Raye Dawn should pay or not, her family and friends
should not be punished with this CRAP! This is so, so sad!
No wonder we are where we are today. What makes me
physically sick is the fact that there is proof that all of
this negative attention came from Kelsey's Purpose.
Kelsey was a beautiful child. Though I didn't have the
pleasure of knowing her, I pray for her soul and I'm
saddened by her death and even more saddened by the way
people who are supposed to be bringing something good out of
all this have turned so malicious. I'll pray for all of your
souls.

Allow me to tell you why it is so hard to have
sympathy for your "grieving" family, I don't think your grieving
the loss of Kelsey. I think your grieving over Raye Dawn being
sent to prison for 27 years! If your family would have done 1/2
of what you've done for RD for Kelsey, she would still be here.
You can pay the US~Observer all the money in the world but, it
will not change the FACTS. The FACTS were presented in court to
a jury of 12 people who had never heard of this case before.
These people were carrying out their civic duties and you are
disrespecting them by saying they got it wrong. Why did they get
it wrong? Just because your precious little princess wasn't
found not guilty doesn't mean that they got it wrong. These
people ALL agreed that she was GUILTY. The only thing they
didn't agree on was her sentence but, they finally came to an
agreement, 27 years. You should be thanking God that they didn't
give her life like some of them wanted too. I think she deserved
to get life.
By the way, I would feel sorry for you and
your family if you had not went above and beyond to clear Raye
Dawn. How dare you all critize KP? How dare you ATTEMPT to make
such a wonderful organization look bad. Are you innocent of
never stating a bad word aobut the Briggs family? I think NOT!

I am sorry to see that a beautiful little
girl had to live in hell for the short life that she lived.I am
also very upset to read that if someones parent are abusive that
there child will be abusive as well.Well I am a child who grew
up in a very abusive house and I am sorry but you are wrong I
would never ever hurt any of my children I have 3 kids and never
once have I ever ever hurt them!!!!!So Think befor you talk
because if u said that to my face we would have BIG words
together and you would not like to hear what I have to say.I am
better than my parents and LOVE and CARE about my kids and all
kids!!!!!And for you to talk about them bring up all the pain
that little girl went threw in her whole life you make it sound
like she lived so long.They made it to where she didn't she is

if my kids where being hurt my kids would never see that person
